Whether you are an experienced pilot or a new flier looking for your perfect first airplane, the DA40 is the smart choice that offers the ultimate in handling, stability, control, and ease of structural and systems operation, making it great for travel, charter, and training. The DA40 is a robust four-seat multi-purpose airplane that uses the same engine as the Diamond DA42 and combines modernity, safety, convenience and economy.

See it in action

The DA40-NG combines the latest in motorization with a powerful, intelligent (FADEC) and economical QAV-1 engine, combined with a tripod set of propellers, GARMIN G1000 NXi avionics panel, comfort for its occupants with easy access through awning and seagull doors, offering a comfortable internal area for 4 people with adjustable pilot and co-pilot position in terms of seat, lumbar and pedals, electric air conditioning, safety of people on board with a fuselage resistant to impacts of 26 G's, robust tricycle landing gear for landing on unpaved runways, among other features that will certainly surprise you.

Diamond safety standard

Always thinking in the pilots and passengers' safety, Diamond uses as standard of safety in its models, aiming to reduce to the maximum any physical damage to its occupants, a carbon fiber structure approved in crash tests equivalent to 26 (twenty-six) times the weight of the model considered, combined with fuel tanks divided into aluminum cells protected by layers of carbon fiber and connected by flexible lines of high pressure braided stainless steel, reducing, or virtually preventing, the existence of possible fire in case of impact of the aircraft.

Avionics that make the difference

The modern avionics installed in the cabin of the DA40-NG use the highest technology available in aviation. The aircraft comes equipped with Garmin ESP (Electronic Stability and Protection), a system that helps the pilot avoid abnormal situations during flight. The engine operating patterns are constantly controlled and regulated through electronic control units, preventing operation outside the required parameters, ensuring a safe and cost-effective flight, providing the pilot with all the information during the flight.

Austro Engine and Propulsion

The DA40-NG uses the same engine as the Diamond DA42-VI, the Austro Engine AE300 168 hp 2.0 liter turbocharged engine equipped with Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC). The AE300 drives constant speed tripod propellers, which give the aircraft, in addition to power and safety, greater efficiency in both performance and fuel consumption at all flight speeds. The aircraft uses as fuel Jet A1 (aviation kerosene) in smaller quantities than any other aircraft on the market, electronically controlled, which certifies its efficiency allied to its aerodynamic design. In addition, the AE300 engines have their Time Between Overhalls (TBO) with 1,800 hours, performed at Austro Engine factory for maximum safety.

Avionics and dashboard

The dashboard, powered by Garmin's G1000 NXi avionics, is considered "state of the art". Fully integrated with the GFC700 three-axis flight control system, the list of accessories is long and includes Garmin GWX70 weather radar and Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT). The former displays in color on the instrument panel the weather conditions ahead of the aircraft at an adjustable angle of up to 120 degrees. The Weather Attenuated Color Highlight feature can identify areas of instability and danger, in addition to radar capability. SVT recreates a virtual topographic landscape from the G1000 NXi database, providing pilots with a supplemental 3-D representation of terrain features, showing landmarks, obstacles, and traffic close to the aircraft.

Room and comfort

The roomy four-seat cab, with folding backrest in the rear seat, large forward-opening hood and huge tailgate, offers optimal cargo flexibility. For luxurious comfort and style, available features include premium leather interiors in various designs and colors, adjustable pilot backrests and lumbar support, electrically adjustable pedals, electric air conditioning, and more. The aircraft has an elegant design with easy access to the cockpit and passenger cabin. The cabin canopy is "awning" shaped and opens forward. The rear door is of the "seagull" type, allowing access to the passenger cabin and to the baggage compartment, located behind the seats, which, like those in the cockpit, are made of leather, ergonomic and comfortable.

Maintenance simplicity

The maintenance of the Diamond DA40-NG occurs only every 100 hours, which provides greater cost savings, and mainly, availability for the operator to enjoy longer periods for the use of the aircraft in their operations.

Testimonial about the Diamond DA40

"Receiving a brand new DA40-NG was a dream come true. I own a DA42 and have long wanted to add a single-engine aircraft (for my aircraft rental business). I ordered the DA40-NG. It is beautifully designed and has a personality that shines through as you warm it up, playfully, waiting to launch into the world. This plane flies instead of just taking off. In its short time in the UK, it has toured all over Europe, including Portugal, and gained many fans."
