The DART will be a civilian certified carbon fiber turboprop training aircraft in dual seat configuration, equipped with state-of-the-art avionics, ejection seats and a powerful turboprop engine. The aerobatic trainer will be available in different variants and with different engine power ratings, seat configuration and/or avionics options for various customer needs. From the very beginning Diamond Aircraft knew that the DART series would be unmatched in the market. In the long run it will eliminate old generation trainers from the market.

See it in action

Diamond is committed to providing the best training solutions, so the DART program is the next massive effort to be the only aircraft manufacturer to offer the full range of basic flight training. Diamond's aerobatic model DART is a carbon fiber turboprop designed to train students in basic flight skills, civil certified, equipped with a powerful Pratt & Whitney Canada engine, state-of-the-art avionics (Garmin G3000) and seats in tandem configuration.

State-of-the-art avionics and ejection seats

DART's cockpit concept includes a real, fully self-contained double-glazed G3000 tandem cockpit with a bird crash-proof canopy, electrically adjustable seat height, and an optimized ejection system. The MK 16 lightweight exhaust system is designed to train students in basic flying skills. It optimizes the pilot's field of vision, improves pilot comfort and efficiency, and provides greater reliability and ease of maintenance. Ejection performance is optimized throughout the exhaust envelope, from zero height at zero speed at near level altitude to 370 knots. Optional avionics and ejection seats are available upon request.

Proven propulsion system

DART has a Pratt & Whitney Canada 750 SHP PT6A-25C turboprop engine, equipped with protection systems such as torque limiter and overspeed governor. The model has a five-bladed MT propeller. Known for its wide power range, reliability and proven performance in all flight conditions and environments, the PT6A engine family is in a class of its own, having flown more than 425 million hours, based on experience gained across Pratt & Whitney Canada's fleet of more than 900 million flight hours. The PT6A has seen 120 improvements made in the last 10 years alone, and over 50,000 engines have been produced; 25,000 of them are still flying. The PT6 turboprop is the benchmark in reliability and is considered the most versatile turboprop engine in General Aviation, which speaks to its reliable performance in single- and twin-engine aircraft.

Safety in development

Diamond Aircraft believes that within the concept of flight safety, the main point is to prevent the occurrence of events that may result in an aircraft accident. Thus, it uses active safety features. Following the Diamond safety standard, the company also focuses on passive safety devices designed to reduce the probability and degree of damage in case of accidents.

Advanced Training

DART has the DART Basic Training Solution, which covers all phases of training to fly the aircraft, including GBTS (Ground Based Training Systems) and BTA (Basic Trainer Aircraft). In addition, Diamond also offers the option of the DART-750 SIM, a simulator modeled after the real aircraft with high-fidelity flight model software. The Instructor Operating Station (IOS) brings the flight instructor into the cockpit while having full control over the training session.
